5 Important Things to Know Before Installing a Paver Patio
When planning to install a paver patio, consider these key factors for a smooth process and great results:
Choose the right paver material: Select from various materials like concrete, natural stone, clay, or recycled materials. Concrete pavers are versatile, easy to install, and ideal for a clean look. Clay pavers offer a rustic, traditional appeal, while natural stone pavers create a more elegant touch.
Excavate existing materials: Remove existing materials (i.e. soil, grass, asphalt) to accommodate a one inch setting-bed.
Add setting-bed: After removing existing material, add sand to the one inch setting-bed. Be sure the sand is adequately compacted.
Seal the joints with sand: Fill the joints (gaps between pavers) with a thin layer of sand to stabilize them. Be sure to compact a second time. Use a push broom for even distribution and vacuum up excess sand.
Purchase extra pavers: Keep extra pavers on hand to accommodate installation needs and future repairs or replacements.
If unsure about the installation process, consider hiring professionals to ensure a successful patio project.
